The F/V Northwestern is a crab-catcher vessel owned and operated by the Hansen family of Seattle, WA. Sig, Norman, and Edgar Hansen are continuing in the family tradition of commercial fishing that started in Norway four generations ago!
The Northwestern operates exclusively in the Bering Sea of Alaska in one of the most dangerous occupations in the world. The vessel was built in 1977 and has been one of the top producing catchers in the crab fleet. She fishes year round for King Crab, Opilio Crab, Pot Cod and provides tendering during the Salmon and Herring Seasons. The Northwestern is featured on Discovery Channel's latest series about the trials and tribulations of crab fishing in Alaska called "Deadliest Catch."
Sig, Edgar and Norman have also inspired and created a video game “Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm” for Xbox 360 and PC. It will be available soon. Gamestop.com, the leading video game retailer, is now taking pre-orders on their website. Click here to ensure you get the game as soon as it launches. It’s your chance to Captain the Northwestern and battle the Bering Sea. The entire Northwestern crew appreciates your support of their video game.
