Sig is no Bully!

I don't think Sig is a bully at all. He is responsible for the boat and all the men on it and it is a tremendous responsibility that he takes seriously. He has to be tough and make sure the men respect him and do their job, so they can all stay safe and make the most money during each season. His crew respect him and are very loyal to him, and they know he's looking out for them and making sure everyone stays safe. He is a strong leader and that's what you have to be as captain. I think he pushes everyone to be the best they can be on the boat and that the men do appreciate that when the season is over and they've come home alive.

I agree completely; I think that some of the griping from his fellow captains and other crew is based largely on jealousy of his success and his being the most popular captain with the most popular crew on the show. Everyone else should grow up!

I agree--jealousy and envy are some nasty little emotions. Honestly, though, who can compete with the major charisma of the NW? Daddy and crew are so fine. #:-)

I do not think Sig is a bully either. I agree with everyone else. He just demands respect and hard work. He gives respect to those who earn it and he gets respect in return. It is his job to keep everyone safe and alive to return home. The crew trust his judgement. I think alot of people who think he is a bully just do not like to work hard for what they have in life. I would rather be on his boat than on someone else's boat who does not bother to care or demand that you do your job right. Those kind of people will get you hurt and not to say the least no money. You do not see the Northwestern crew yelling at Sig or skipping offloads to go drink like some other crews(Mavrick). The Northwestern crew respect their Captain and their jobs more than to goof off.

ITA with those that say that in this society, we have many soft, spoiled and lazy people. What do you expect though, competition is seen as bad, everyone gets a ribbon or prize just for showing up.

Sig is the captain and when you're in charge you can't worry about being liked all the time. He has a ton of responsibility and you can tell he cares about his crew. And he is the oldest...I'm the oldest, and my sister would be the first one to tell you I can be very bossy. But she also knows that I have her back.

Honestly, Sig couldn't bully the guys even if he wanted to. I mean, they are strong crabbing men. I'm sure they have thick skins. Sig calls the guys on the boat a family. That doesn't sound like a bully to me!

gees sig a bully......myself i think he 1 of the calmest skipper around.poeple forget just how muck responsibility is on him in catching the quota finding the crab and making sure every1 returns home safe.......i wish i have a skipper like him went i was starting out....
