Don't think because you have a relative with "healthy" lungs and smoke, that they are healthy. All you have to do is listen to some of the Captains talk and you can tell they are affected by smoking. I know this is a sore spot with many people. But that is my soapbox sorry if I offend anyone. |
I completely agree with you - even if the doc says your lungs are looking pretty good, that doesn't mean anything. My Dad died this past November because of a VERY sudden heart attack. He pretty much went "like that" and just a couple days before, he'd been to the doctor and had an EKG done on his heart. They said there was "nothing to worry about" even though he had a small portion of his heart that wasn't functioning 100%. Obviously they were wrong. He'd also been told over the years that his lungs looked great, even though he'd been smoking since he was about 14. He was 59 when he died.
