| Like the DC show, I'm sure they have tons of film footage and had to leave tons on the cutting room floor. I would imagine they tried to get as much stuff in 4 episodes as they could, so that could explain the choppiness to it. For us fans you would think they would just have more episodes with all that footage, but Discovery only wants so many since they have other shows like Dirty jobs to get on to. Which is soo silly to me, we really only need Deadliest catch, right? ![]() |

| Yep...that's right! Hopefully this wasn't a one time thing. Maybe they'll use these first 4 episodes as a guide to determine how to make them better next year because there's alot of options for ATC...they also could have individual crews on ATC, for example--all of the Northwestern crew on one show, and then all of the TB on another, etc....that would give each individual crew a chance to sit down together and chat.

| I really hope they make more ATC and behind the scenes specials. Now I have nothing personal against Mike Rowe, he is just doing what he does best...talking, I really would have liked it if he toned it down a bit and let the captains and crew have control of the topics. Maybe next time...

| I hope they continue with it. It's neat to see the captians out of their normal environment ya know? And Mike Rowe was pretty over-bearing I thought...there were many times someone else didn't get to say something cause he'd have to chip in a one-liner or joke or something. For only an hour show, it's sad that there wasn't MORE from the captains ya know? I'd love to see Discovery do like a "before the catch" too. Where for a few weeks profile the various ships/crews. I don't know what the time-line is, but like 4 weeks before DC starts to air the King Crab season, profile 2 boats per hour which gives 30 minutes to each boat. And maybe footage of while they're all in harbor getting ready...kinda like they showed on the Behind the Scenes thing...but as a lead in to the show. Kinda profile where people are coming from, introduce the fleet to new viewers, and really tie it all together before they start the season and it gets heavy on one boat with all the drama or stuff ya know? But back on ATC...it (1) should be longer than an hour, and (2) less Mike Rowe and more of the Captians.

| I, too, like the idea of a "Before the Catch" show. They've given us little snippets of shopping for groceries (Husband and I once tried to figure their outlay in bait, people food, and fuel.--maybe they're afraid to be giving all their secrets away). But, ATC reminds me of all interview shows: too much host and commercials. Just when the discussion gets really interesting they flit on to something else. *sigh* |

| Love ATC. Love the chance to see the guys talk, but I agree...I want to see them talk more. A lot of these guys are buddies and is would be interesting to just see them have a conversation that isn't strictly led or planned. Not that I think MR did a bad job. I think he did pretty well actually. And Josh's little joke about the dirty jobs on a crab boat was cute. Did anyone else start to get miffed about the product placement. I kept thinking, "oh for crying out loud...could they make it any more obtrusive!?" It was special when Josh was sitting there with a full glass of draft beer and a bottle right next to it. ![]()

![]() I would love to see a "Before the Catch" show...I would like to see the prep work, what goes on during the trip up there...all kinds of stuff. At the same time, I know the guys are probably grateful that there aren't cameras around for every minute of the season.
