"ignore" threads

Is it possible to 'ignore' threads? With the wide variety of threads and interests, it would be great to be able so set 'ignore' on the ones that I'm not interested in!

This would reduce the number of 'Unread Posts' to sort through.

I know I can 'ignore' members (haven't done that to anyone, lol), but choosing to ignore threads would be useful.

Thanks!

I tried to ignore myself once, to prevent all the arguments heh.

Seriously though, I think this would be a nice feature if it is possible.

I ignore threads this way. Go to the forum you do not want to read, for example, "Meet and Greet" and then click on the forum tools option and click "mark forum read." Then when you go to new posts they are all gone, you have to do this each time though. It is easy to accidently click "Quick links" instead of "forum tools" and mark the whole site thread...I did this when I came back from vacation because 3000 new posts was just too much to even start to handle. You can do this with any forum.

Yes, marking forums read can be handy.

But unfortunately, it is at the level of the forum, not at the thread level. I was hoping to be mark ignore individual threads within a forum.

For example, I might want to permanently ignore the "Hows the weather" thread under the forum "For everything else", but want to see what other threads under that forum were updated.

There is not a way to ignore just a thread. Another suggestion is to go through and read all of the new posts in threads under your "unread posts" section, ignoring those which you don't want to read. Once you have read the ones you want, "mark forums read" and be done with it.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'm about to go away for 8 days & was worried about the gazillion unread posts that there will be when I get back. Mind you, it's great to see that the forum is always so active.

Usually I read what I want, sign off, clear the cookies & when I come back on it says 0 unread posts. That's not to say I don't WANT to read all threads, just don't have the time.

Thanks Erin. That's what I do. It works fine for me. I suppose I miss some posts that just might be interesting, but ...
