| whats the class two? is that the same as the second hand special "skippers ticket" for over 16.5m? do they still have that stupid rule for the eyesight test where you have to read the chart without glasses? i went to the nautical college in 85 to do mine and cos i've always worn glasses i failed the eyesight test, even tho i scored 100% in the lights at night colour recognition part of the test and had done the navigation, first aid and morse parts of the course with ease. at that time it meant that nobody who wore glasses could get a ticket to command a boat over 16.5m, you'd have thought we were flying jets and that such things as spare specs, radar and binoculars had never been invented. i did the fire fighting, survival at sea courses as well but just because i'm short sighted couldn't get my ticket, has it changed? |
