Hi Gang!
Been reading the posts for awhile. Haven't had the time to reply. Hello from CT! I am the chick who fishes tournaments. Right now, it has slowed down with the turn of the season, but Striper fishing will be picking up soon. Recovered from neck surgery last year due to a bad (dumb) fishing injury years ago-so things are going good. I fish & travel with the same guys for the past 19 years and I have had whole slew of adventures. Nice to meet everyone.

Hey TRBLCMN!
I'll answer your question. It is going to sound like horn tooting, but I'm not typing it out that way. I've just put a lot of time in over the years to get where I'm at.
I have fished BASS. It was years ago before I destroyed my neck. I fish our state BASS federation, opens, club tourns and anything in between. I lost 2 years prior to surgery last year and this was a rebuilding year. I win enough money that it is self-sustaining and the trails have to send you a 1099 at the end of the year. Gas killed us this year. One trip truck & boat on a 120 mile haul was about $250. I have won a lot of money over the years to keep it going.
The boys I fish with fish BASS, FWL-Everstart Series when they aren't home working regular jobs. They are my pushers--they push me to be better. They do this as a "hobby" and they are bring home new boats & lots of cash. Not bad for some slumps from CT. I don't have the cash to front an entire trail--some require it. I already work 3 jobs in the off seaon so I can fish all summer. I was looking to fish the entire women's BASS trail when it came out, but then had the surgery. This year was the rebuilding year & now my Pop is terminally ill so that may be pushed back again.
When DC came out on TV, I could really relate. I have fished in all kinds of weather. Rain, snow, sleet, high winds, a tropical storm (oh-THAT was fun!), ice, severe thunderstoms, a minor tornado-and we don't get them here in CT, everything! You learn to ignore being seriously uncomfortable & you always are on high alert to your surroundings. I have driven a boat at 72mph in driving rain, 18 degree weather (because the Stripers were running), snow, and trying to out run a thunderstorm--yes, you can do it 60% of the time. Injuries come with fishing. There are few fisherman I know who haven't had back, hand, elbow, or shoulder surgery. I have had 4 hand surgeries-2 one each. Fishing is hard on your hands and tendons and things give out-not to mention broken fingers from stupid stunts.
I've been tournement fishing since 1989. I've been fishing since Grandpa got me started when I was 4. So that has been 39 years. And if you ever had to pick me out of a line up and say "that's the chick that fishes", you would probably pick the wrong person.
