My name is Patrick and my handle here and on Discovery is AKAkopa. I live in California and am older that dirt. (OK young dirt but I figure it is between me and the good Lord and he ain't telling so neither will I).

I really enjoy watching the DC and admire the guys who put their lives on the line crabbing. During my career as a construction worker I put in many long hour days and I just cannot imagine how these fellows are able to function under the duress that they face DAILY and for the stretch of time they do it. I know from personal experience that a man is not made to abuse himself in the way they do during the season by working the long hours and doing the physically challenging labor that they perform.

FYI the reason for the name AKAkopa is this: I used to have a tendency to tell those in authority to Kiss Ole Pat's A@@ and found this to be an ongoing source for getting in trouble so I just started saying KOPA. Eventually, my friends started calling me KOPA so I am Also Known As Kopa.

Great site and very neat to read the various posts. I just hope the crab bunnies and the Hansenettes don't over run the forum with their admiration and the lust like the other one. LMAO Don't get me wrong--I find it all quite amusing!

Welcome, kopa. Hey, now, the 'older than dirt' is my line (but I guess I'll share).

Not too worry about crab bunnies. It's all good, clean fun here and lusting must be done in the privacy of your own home. One of the mandates here is respect for the crew AND their families, and we all take that very to heart.

I have a great admiration for those who work physically everyday. I thank the Good Lord everyday for air-conditioning here in Florida!

It took one summer working construction in the hot, humid Florida heat to convince my brother that maybe it wasn't so bad to go to college after all!! He was enrolled that Fall!!

I think it takes a special calling to do the work these fishermen do not everyone is cut out to do it!

I hope you find the board a source of fun and community.

And the Crab Bunnies are under strict orders from the TPTB to stay in their own thread and behave themselves!!
