Thanks for the welcome folks,
_after poking around here for a spell I must say this is probably the most international site I think I have came across yet, very cool

.
lol, no plow, it's my wifes truk.....she loves her Northwestern.
_erin, I own my own oilfield service company and I work in the south central region of Alberta as primarily a production operator for the last 10yrs, prior to that I worked in the service/construction end for 14yrs which I still do part time.
_Operating entails as it states, operating oil & gas wells and all related equipment, which includes pump jacks, natural gas compressors, pumps...etc. Also including gathering data, bookeeping, landowner relations, it's quite diverse and fun. The other aspect is almost continuously being on call, sorta like a fireman, if the phone rings I'm gone, usually in the worst weather (which gets very extreme in a frozen desert -47c sometimes happens

).
_In general we call it "makin it happen", we are the folks that get the product out of the ground process it and make everyones furnaces and such be happy and warm.
_The const/maint end of things involves building gas plants, wellsites, oil batteries. Which entails pipefitting, crane operation/supervision, vessel entries tank construction, oh the list is long, all big heavy dangerous stuff. It is not really a job for me, it's a lifestyle......the hours are long, I have worked over 480 days consecutively in 99/00.
_The danger factor is that more or less I live inside a potential bomb all day or night whilst I'm at work, my wife hates it when a few of us boys get talking about it, but thats the facts all we do is prevent it from happening.
_(I can't type worth crud so, thats a readers digest version):D
