COAST GUARD RESCUES FOUR FISHERMEN
JUNEAU, Alaska- The Coast Guard rescued four fishermen two miles east of Cape Ignak at 3:50 pm today. The Coast Guard North Pacific Search and Rescue Coordination Center received an electronic distress beacon alert at 2:15 pm this afternoon and diverted a Coast Guard C-130 aircraft to investigate while simultaneously launching a rescue helicopter from Air Station Kodiak.
Shortly after diverting, the C-130 located the remains of the fishing vessel (F/V) Hunter and a life raft with four crewmen near the location of the distress beacon.
Within an hour of launching, the crew of the F/V Hunter were hoisted to safety by Coast Guard rescue helicopter.
All four crew members were taken to Kodiak where they received medical attention.
The F/V Hunter is based out of Cordova.
